May 10th & 11th, 2008 - MOTHER'S DAY SHOW AND SALE - World's largest tropical Flowering Tree Show and Sale.  Hundreds and hundreds of dazzling tropical flowering trees, shrubs, and vines will be on view at the Tropical Flowering Tree Society’s annual Mother’s Day Show.  We need volunteers to help with set up, security, paid holding, and answering questions from our buyers. June 7, 2008 - Steve Pearson along with Miami Beautification will host a tree planting.  Please bring gloves and shovels to the event. Please call Steve Pearson for more information (305) 259-8006. We will meet at the Coconut Grove MetroRail Station Parking Lot (US 1 and SW 27 Avenue), and at 8:30 am will divide into teams to work on various areas of US 1. The Parking Lot is immediately behind the MetroRail Station. Volunteers should arrive early to sign in and should wear hard soled shoes and sun protection. If they have them, they should bring a shovel and a yard rake (rake with short, hard prongs). We should be finished between 11 am and noon depending on the number of volunteers that are participating.

June 8-9 , 2008 - Royal Poinciana Fiesta
June 8^th – People are invited to between 12-2:00 p.m. to bring a picnic lunch and tour the Kampong on their own. The American Antique Veteran’s Car Club will be on campus to show their beautiful antique cars.  At 1:45 people who have paid for the trolley tour will load the trolleys. The cost of the tour is $20.00. The trolleys fill up quickly so reservations should be made as soon as possible. Please call Carol Vanoorbeeck to make reservations. (305) 258-1086.The tour will last for 2 ½ hours, participants will enjoy a narrated tour given by Larry Schokman and Steve Pearson. They will visit some of the outstanding trees in Miami. Upon completion of the tour refreshments will be served.

June 9^th -  Tropical Flowering Tree Society 7:00 meeting. Those interested can take a tram tour of Fairchild. Following after will be a wine and cheese reception with Joe Donato Jazz band playing. The 2008 Royal Poinciana Queen and Court  and the Larry Schokman book award will be given.
